At St. Andrews Health, we use secure AI-assisted scribing technology during
consultations to enhance clinical note-taking. This policy explains how we use this tool
to support accurate, efficient care while strictly adhering to Australia’s Privacy Act
1988 and Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

Accuracy: Minimises manual errors in health records.
Efficiency: Reduces administrative costs, helping us continue bulk billing for eligible patients.

3. How It Works

1. Recording	AI listens in real-time to your consultation.	No permanent audio storage. Microphone automatically disables post-consult.
2. Note Generation	Software converts speech to clinical notes.	Notes are reviewed/edited by your GP before saving. All data encrypted (AES 256/TLS).
3. Storage	Final notes saved to your secure electronic health record.	Compliant with APP 11.1 (security).

4. Your Rights & Choices

Opt-Out Anytime:
- Verbally tell your GP: “I do not want AI scribing today.”
- No impact on your care or bulk billing eligibility.
Access & Correction: Request to view/edit notes per APP 12/13 (contact [Privacy Officer

Vendor Transparency: We use [Heidi, Lyrebird, ScribeAI Pty Ltd etc based on Dr’s preference], an APP-
compliant Australian provider.

5. Data Security & Compliance

No Recordings Kept: Audio is deleted immediately after note generation.
Strict Access Controls: Only your GP and authorised staff view notes
